Marching Band Practice Updates

Due to unusual heat index readings we will be moving Thursday August 4 indoors at 5pm, and next Tuesday August 9 and Thursday August 11 changed to 6:30 - 9pm, when the sun is going down.  It will not eliminate the heat but it will give us some relief.    Once school starts the practice times are set - Tuesday 6:30-9pm in stadium and Thursday 4-7pm on practice field.  Questions?  Email Mr. Walsh


Marching Band camp a Success!

Another successful Marching Band camp has come and gone….  Camp Rock Eagle was again a smashing success!  The class of 2012 is a strong group seniors band members,  and we have a very enthusiastic group of incoming freshmen band members.  The percussion section is really good this year, and of course our veteran marchers were the glue all week long - overall very impressive!

Parents, the 2011 edition of the Marching Raider Band is quite good - and very disciplined!  We are excited and look forward to our first home performance Friday September 2nd.  The show is very different this year and really shows off the group’s musical abilities as well as great marching form.  PLEASE come out and support your Band member - you will be VERY impressed!


Marching Band Updates!

Things to remember: Marching Band will rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday beginning August 2, 2011. Please check the calendar (schedule button above) for times.

PERCUSSION - please remember next week’s performance for incoming Freshmen!  Email Mr. Stinson with questions.

PICTURE DAY: The large-group picture that goes into the football program and yearbook will be taken Wednesday morning August 3.  Band members should be at the bandroom by 11am to get into uniform. Please wear black socks that cover the ankle so your ankles do not show in the picture!

PARADE: The Old Soldier’s Day Parade is next Saturday August 6, 2011.  We must line up at 9:30am in the old Milton High School parking; get there early so you can find our Band (there will be more than one band lining up in the parking lot).  Dress for the parade is Kaki shorts and our new GREY Band t-shirt, tennis shoes and socks; yes to sunglasses and NO to hats; wear sunscreen.  Lunch at the end of the parade (Armory cadi-corner from WIlls Park) is free for band members, courtesy of The Varsity!

MB Picture Day Change

The date for Marching Band picture day has been changed from Wednesday August 10th to Wednesday August 3rd.  This was necessary to avoid conflicts with Teacher pre-planning week.  Please check the schedule often as dates are added or changed.  MB PICTURE DAY WEDNESDAY AUGUST 3RD.

Movement 1 and 2 are now both published!  Please go to the music page now and download (see music button above).  No percussion parts posted here; you’ll have to wait until percussion camp.  Need the password?  Email Mr. Walsh with your name and part in the subject header.  One week to go - yeh!!

REMINDER - get your ingloo 1/2 gallon personal water cooler.  And be drinking LOTS of water now!!!


Leadership workshop

Welcome back Leaders!  Leadership training will begin Tuesday July 19th at 10am.  Please dress for outdoor marching - TENNIS SHOES and SOCKS, SHORTS, and T-SHIRT.  Be sure you are dressed properly.  BRING YOUR LUNCH - we will take a 30-minute lunch break around 12:30pm.  Questions?  Email Mr. Walsh.   See you Tuesday!

SHOW MUSIC POSTED!

Movement 1 for the show will be posted by mid-day July 5!  Please be aware that since it is being custom arranged, licensing is pending, so you can print for personal practice but do not publish it. Inform others in your section to get the music from the website.  If you are not sure what part to learn, contact your section leader or print all parts and work them all; they are similiar.  If you need the password for the music page please email Mr. Walsh with your name and instrument in the subject heading and again in the body requesting the password.  If there is not a part listed (like Trombone 2), simply print what is there; some first and second parts are combined on one page.  Remember that you’ll need the Fight Song and Star Spangled banner too!
