Can you say “Carnegie Hall?” That’s right, we submitted audition tapes for the National Concert Band Invitational Band Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City for 2010 - and have been accepted! WE ARE SO PROUD OF OUR STUDENTS! This is the very best concert hall in the world and truely a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our students! We will be traveling with two bands, the Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic I Band. The trip will take place March 31-April 3, 2010.
We will NOT exclude anyone from the trip, so don’t be concerned which band you are in - you will be able to make the trip! Travel cost is still being determined (we cannot lock in airfare yet), but the final cost will be in the neighborhood of $1200.00. For comparison, we performed at this same festival 4.5 years ago and the cost was $1130.00. Students, you can secure your spot with an initial $200.00 deposit, which will be due shortly after school start - but can be mailed NOW.
Sound like alot of money - to perform for international judges in the best concert hall in the world? YOU CAN PAY FOR THE TRIP THROUGH FUNDRAISING! Money that goes into your ISA can be applied to travel. You can work at Verizon amphitheater; we need volunteers RIGHT NOW (email Michele Zurca now to volunteer in the concession stand). Spots fill fast so don’t hesitate to contact Mrs. Zurca immediately. Second, you can earn BIG MONEY by selling advertisements for our annual calendar. The deadline for ad sales is SOON, so look at the top of the website and click on Calandar Ad Sales Info to get the scoop.
MUCH MORE to come about the trip. Info to be distributed in July and August. National Recognition!!
